Whatever your role in the school—teacher, principal, coach, nurse, or guidance counselor—you can play an important role in preventing substance abuse. In the school setting, children draw conclusions about substance use from what they see and hear about alcohol and other drugs from their friends, classmates,
and teachers. Here are a few ways you can get involved with us to reduce alcohol and substance use and abuse:
- Participate in discussions about why alcohol abuse is a problem in our communities;
- Help plan activities to educate people about the risk and harm associated with alcohol abuse;
- Serve on a work group that creates media messages for our region;
- Help recruit sponsors for events and media buys;
- Help make decisions about how and where to invest resources and funding in our area.
