Strategic Process- Data

Moving SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework from vision to practice is a strategic process that state and community stakeholders must undertake in partnership.  Through the SPF SIG, states provide the requisite leadership, technical support, and monitoring to ensure that identified communities are successful in implementing the five steps of the framework.  These steps are required, and all targeted communities must implement all of the following steps.
  1. Profile population needs, resources, and readiness to address the problems and gaps in service delivery.
  2. Mobilize and/or build capacity to address needs.
  3. Develop a Comprehensive Strategic Plan.
  4. Implement evidence-based prevention programs and infrastructure development activities.
  5. Monitor process, evaluate effectiveness, sustain effective programs/activities, and improve or replace those that fail.

States and communities are encouraged to build on existing infrastructure/activity where appropriate.  States are expected to use the SPF SIG framework to guide all prevention activity throughout the state, whether funded though the SPF SIG grant or through other sources.  To view the entire Strategic Process click here.

UPDATE- PRIORITIES AND 2009 YRBS DATA

Since 2008, when the original Strategic Plan was designed, we have learned many things.  Listening to our community partners, gathering data, interviewing stakeholders and implementing programs has given a chance to see what is working and what needs improvement in our communities.  Therefore, we have developed a new set of priorities for the region effective December 2009.  To view those priorities and the reasoning behind why they were chosen see our matrix:  ASAP Priorities
